Purpose: Get everyone laughing while opening up about worry in a low-pressure way.

Time: 10–15 minutes

How it works:

  1. Have students stand in the middle of the room or write their answers on a white board and show.
  2. Designate one side as “WORRYWART” and the other as “CHILL”.
  3. Read out different scenarios. Students move to the side that matches how they’d honestly react.

Example scenarios:

  • You have a test tomorrow you forgot to study for
  • You ran out of time and have to go out of the house without having gotten ready/showered.
  • Your friend says “we need to talk”
  • You accidentally send a text to the wrong person
  • Your parents are arguing
  • You’re called on in class and don’t know the answer
  • Your best friend becomes close with the new kid at school
  • Your phone battery is at 2% with no charger

After a few rounds, have each participant name something that puts them on the ‘worrywart’ side from their own lives.

Discussion Questions:

  • Why do you think it’s so easy to forget that God is near?
  • What does it actually look like to “give your worries to God”?
  • Do you think gratitude can really change anxiety? Why or why not?
  • When do you feel closest to God?
  • Finish the activity by letting it grow into an honest discussion with a focus on the nearness of God, culminating in things to pray for each other about.
