Purpose: To demonstrate the difference we can make as the light of the world, both individually and together as the body of believers.
Setup
Turn off/dim the lights
Supplies:
1 – 4 Flashlights (or phone lights)
How It Works
Start with the lights on. Give 1-4 participants a flashlight and instruct them to keep them off until instructed.
One Light
Turn off or dim the lights so that the room is dark.
Next, invite just one participant to shine their light up at the ceiling.
Watch together at how the room gets brighter, how darkness is defeated. Talk about how, when we shine the light of Christ, we can transform the darkness.
Multiple Lights
Now slowly, invite the remaining participants to turn on their lights one by one and shine them up at the ceiling.
Talk about how, when we unite as the body of Christ, we have the power to illuminate the Kingdom of God even more than when we stand alone.
